I need to take pics and upload them. My room is flowing so much better. We practiced "Class?!" "Yes!" 100 times today. If this means nothing to you...go here...http://www.wholebrainteaching.com/ or just go on utube and search for whole brain teaching. It's amazing. It works. You give the kids plenty of time to talk and share things with each other instead of shutting them up. They LOVE it. But, it takes lots and lots of practice. So, I gave them that and it worked.
I also spent hours last weekend planning out every detail of this week and that paid off as well. It was the first time I felt like I could focus on the kids and how each one was learning instead of running around like a chicken with my head cut off. Note to self: plan and reap the reward.
Love to read the teachers perspective. You sound so excited about your teaching adventure. The kids are lucky to have you as their first grade teacher. I am sure you will make a difference Kim.
