Sometimes I want to write every single day or even twice a day, but sometimes I can't think of anything to write about. I guess this is what some of my kids feel like when I tell them they can write about anything during Write to Self time. They can't think of anything and even the usuals, their list of favorite things, isn't sparking anything.
I'm excited for Valentine's Day tomorrow because it's just a nice holiday. I know some people hate it because it seems forced, but I've been using it to talk about doing kind things for people and being a good friend. We've read lots of Toot and Puddle books and even more Frog and Toad stories. I've also been helping them write about what we read and focus each piece of writing on one topic.
I find them writing more easily every day and I think this is good.
That's all I've got. Really. Boring. Sorry if you fell asleep while you read.
You're far too hard on yourself, Kimberly!! It's NOT boring and never will be, 'cause you're always so real and thoughtful ~ even when you're not sure what to say :)) That's what I love about you!
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous Valentines Day!

Funny how that works, and thanks to connecting that to how our kids feel sometimes when writing. My head is empty right now too...
ReplyDeleteI'll still like you, if you still like me :)

It's eye opening to feel yourself in your students' shoes, and it's really such a good thing. It's real. It's life. We can't always be "on." Hey, your post was not boring in the least!
