Celiacs, The Voice, and Currently

This isn't about teaching....not really.

I have Celiacs Disease. This means I can't eat gluten. I have been gluten-free for about 6 months. After the first month, I stopped feeling any better. In fact, I started to feel worse. So I got more blood tests and worried that they had diagnosed me incorrectly. I got the tests back yesterday and they showed that I have more gluten in my body than I did 6 months ago! What?! This means that now I have to be crazy about every morsel of food that goes in my mouth.

In addition, my doctor told me that I really have to try to get 8-10 hours of sleep a night. Ha! Doesn't he know I have to get my kids to bed, do the dishes, start some laundry, work on my schoolwork, watch some tv, read my book, knit, and blog surf? How can I sleep?

But, I know he's right. Cause I'm tired all the time. So, last night I told my husband that I was going to get in bed and watch a wee bit of the The Bachelor before going to sleep. Little did I know that The Voice was on. I flippin' LOVE that show. It sends chills down my spine. I want to sing along. When I know someone is good, I am like PUSH. THE. BUTTON! I kind of secretly think I'm Christina Aquilara.

So I didn't get a ton of sleep.

  1. Hope you feel better soon. And 8-10 hours sleep? Who actually gets that? It sure sounds good. Take care.

  2. I've been gluten-free for about 12 years. I feel yucky if I slip up, too. And I slipped up a lot until I got Gluten-Free for Dummies. It listed lots of foods that I didn't know I couldn't eat. Once I started following that ... end of problems. Unless I cheat, which I do every once in a while (not very often :))
    Good luck with it all.

  4. I hope your health improves. I get 8 hours of sleep (also a medical issue) by giving myself a bedtime and enforcing it just like with my kids. It means some things don't get done, but I need more sleep... We've learned to make trade offs.

I cant believe you can knit socks. What a talent!
