One unit can change everything...

I started my plant unit this week. I spent a lot of time thinking about it and really figuring out how to tie everything together. I took out tons of books from the library in my town. I copied everything we would need to complete our lapbooks. I created a bookmark folder on my computer where I kept all of our activities, online activities, and videos.

It's amazing. The kids are so engaged and connected. When I shared large dried lima beans with each of them, one little one said, "hey that's the seed coat!"

During lunch (I was on duty today), the kids kept calling me over to have me keep their apple seeds and pepper seeds. I brought a little cup for the task. One big boy tapped me as I walked by and said, "stick around for a minute Mrs. Moran, I'll finish this apple and toss you some pips." It's very funny.

When I finish with the unit, I plan to organize everything and keep it in a clear plastic bin for next year. I want to do this for each of my units that I do and love. I will also share all of the books and media and projects that I used on here. I just want to try them out first to weed out what didn't work.
