Yarn Along

I was reading one of my favorite blogs Small Things when I noticed she was doing a Yarn Along. I have been knitting since I was six years old. In fact, you might have heard of the woman who taught me to knit. The one, the only, Elizabeth Zimmerman! I was at a knitting class with my mother and EZ (the teacher) said, "how old are you?" When I told her I was six, she told me to come sit by her because I would be easy to teach. I've never stopped.

Today I am going to share what I am knitting and reading right now. Besides my family, knitting, reading, and teaching are my passions.

Currently I am knitting a simple silk and cotton pink baby blanket for my new niece who will be arriving in June.

I am also trying to finish the second sock of a pair I started in JANUARY! The second sock always kills me. I like to imagine I will ever like knitting socks, but I just don't.

Finally, I just started A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin. I am loving the way he writes. I can't wait to dive into this long saga and then watch the HBO series!

What do you like to read and do outside of teaching? Share away! If you blog about it, leave a link in your comment!

  3. How great that you knit!! We have a third-grade knitting-for-service club and we made baby caps and blankets for kids in need. Thanks for sharing your projects.

  4. I can't believe you learned with EZ herself! That's really a biggie.

Are you on Ravelry? I love the big R. And oddly enough, I'm currently knitting the EXACT SAME blanket, only with a very light yellow yarn by Bernat! I'm hoping that I'll be prepared when I'm grandmother someday.

Do you have a favorite yarn shop around here? I like Korner Knitters in Standish, but if I'm feeling up for a drive, I head into Bath to go to Halcyon.

This vacation week I've been raking, raking and raking. Watching out for deer ticks too!

    1. I am on Ravelry but really need to take the time to figure out the features. I get a little lost. I like Halcyon too, but there is a knitting store in my plaza near my house that I adore now.

  6. I read the Game of Thrones! My son gave it to me for my birthday. I LOVED it! I see "diditeach" is reading Cutting For Stone. I loved that book, too :)

I NEED to learn to knit. One of my daughters-in-law said she'd teach me ... I should take her up on it! Your socks are beautiful :))
