Birthday Parties

This is not going to be about teaching. So feel free to move on unless you ever need to throw a birthday party for a child. Then, you should probably stick around.

My daughter Annie turned 5 last Thursday. We had a family party, but then we had her friend's party this weekend from 9 to 11am. I say the time and day because I think people don't think enough about the time they are throwing their party. Have it 11 to 1, must do lunch, have it 4-6 must do dinner. Have it 9 to 11, can do fruit and make your own cupcakes!

I set up centers because, "hey that's how I roll."  It went over really well. I got them in, I got them out, a good time was had by all. Here are the photos.

Yes, that's right. I made an agenda.

The table. Very simple, but so pretty.

I made fantastic playdough from The Inspired Apple's recipe. Thank you so much!

Annie and I made strawberry cupcakes in the morning and then we decorated them.

A nail polishing station, of course.

We put an old table top down on the kitchen floor for the playdough and cupcake decorating.
Are they beautiful or what?

My Annie (on the left) and her good friend Ellie.

I just wanted you to see how sexy my hubs is. Aren't I lucky?!

I'm sending this photo to Snapfish to make thank you cards for Annie to send.

Annie and her BFF (Priya) hamming it up in their matching outfits.
They look like they are headed to South Beach for Cosmos.

  3. Soooooo cute. You have given your daughter a memory she will have forever. I loved at home birthday parties for my boys (24 and 19 now). I think those are th parties they remember the most. My sister tells me about some of the over the top parties her kids have gone to ( limo to the spa, build a bear) and my jaw hits the floor. If you do those extreme parties at 5 what will they have to look forward to at 16. Parties are about spending time with family and friends. You did it up right. Good job!

  5. Looks like a fun party! I'm so tired of seeing all of the over-the-top parties on Pinterest. There's lots of great ideas (and of course it's fun to copy a few of them), but some of it just gets to be too much. I love all of your decorations and stations. I bet your daughter had a blast.
