Katie Keier!

I have been, well let's face it, kind of obsessed lately with this book.

I have a copy somewhere and I was freaking out because I couldn't find it. Then a colleague offered to let me borrow hers (yay!).

So I was totally shocked when on Twitter last night at 8:50, I noticed this:

I have never been on Blackboard before, but I LOVED it. I could hear everyone's voices and chat at the same time. Katie (my new idol) did a powerpoint on Kindergarten Writing and how to help them grow and learn. It was so engrossing.

I took away this...
Every child is a WRITER and he/she is 5 YEARS OLD. They aren't going to write like a 25 year old. It is such a great way to think about children. They are WRITERS and READERS but they are also 5 years old, adjust your expectations accordingly and be amazed by who they are.

  4. Kimberley, you are too kind! I loved having you in our Blackboard Collaborate session - it was too fun, wasn't it?! You contributed a great deal to our conversation. We are all learning and growing together. I love sharing something I am passionate about and building my thinking through everyone else and the great thinking they all do. It takes a village, yes? Thanks for spending an hour with us. Looking forward to the next time. Enjoy the book and let me know if you want to chat at all about it. Keep sharing the fabulous things your writers are doing. See you on Twitter!
